Is your computer almost backing down? Is it too slow for you? Perhaps this is because of slow speed and “class B” hard disk drives.
Now is the time for your answered prayers. The fastest hard disk, a magnetic disk which has platters that store all data, is a Serial ATA (SATA) 3Gbps Travelstar Z7K320 spins at 320GB with 7,200 RPM or “Travelstar Z”. Its innovator is Hitachi, a multi-national company originally based in Japan responsible for making high-technology gadgets.
In a press release, Hitachi showed the 320GB hard disk together with a bunch of other hard drives touted as the Z-series. It was in line with the company’s legacy of promoting “reliability, low-power consumption, exceptional shock resistance and quiet acoustic” in hard drives. Compared to other Solid State Drives, which uses solid-state memory as data capacity, it is no match for this new baby.
The new Hitachi Hard drive offers the most cost-effective and space-efficient storage solutions to logistical problems. Taking a cost per gigabyte and gigabyte per cubic millimeter (GB/mm3) analysis, SSDs are 17 times while 1.8-inch drives can be up to seven times more expensive on a cost per gigabyte. This new 2.5 inch & 7 mm thick HDD features a 1,334Mbps maximum transfer rate assisted by 16MB short-time storage cache. The HDD uses only 1.8 watts during reading or writing and 0.8 watts when idle. For environmental-conscious individuals, the disk is halogen free!
Wow isn’t it! This is the fastest disk drive of all times when it comes to saving space. A 7,200rpm is also more appealing than the former 5,200 rpm (when used in laptops and mobile PCs). I guess, the Travelstar is a tough competitor for the SSDs. Truly the world is fast-pacing and competition is rising. But surely, it won’t be offered at a low price. Bet on it! This one is going to be good for computer manufacturers who want to save space and still store that large amount of memory. It will hit the market in August and we’re left guessing as to the offered price. Whatever its price will be, I’m sure it will be quite around for some time!
